Sandi Wants to Ensure Food Safety Ahead of Asian Games

We will ensure all local culinary products are safe for consumption and could bring a good memory for sport tourists in Asian Games

Jakarta Vice Governor, Sandiaga Uno wants all food and beverages that will be consumed by Asian Games guests are safe and hygiene.

He said, food safety needs to be concerned from it is produced until served, both for packaged foods and freshly prepared foods.

Health Dept. Deploys 55 Food Safety Personnel For Asian Games

"We want 200-300 Asian Games guests consist of athletes, officials, supporters, and volunteers to consume good quality foods," he conveyed while opening Safe Food Stickering launching in a shopping center in Central Jakarta, Tuesday (7/24).

He affirmed, food and beverage safety and hygiene become the most important thing.

"We have kerak telor, bir pletok and soto Betawi in Jakarta. Those could be our flagship products and have sale value," he said.

He hopes Asian Games can give positive impacts towards local culinary entrepreneurs to increase local's economy. 

"We will ensure all local culinary products are safe for consumption and could bring a good memory for sport tourists in Asian Games," he conveyed.

Meanwhile, Drug and Food Supervisory Agency Head, Penny Kusumastuti Lukito stated, his side will continue to monitor and supervise food ingredients hygiene. It is done to ensure its quality, safe, and clear nutritional benefits.

"We will supervise continuously to ensure food is free from hazardous materials," she mentioned.
